The period of time 2010-2012 was a period of great artistic exploration for me. I painted daily and always had a half dozen different pieces at varying stages of progress. The majority of this work dealt with the examination of the human face and figure. Generally mixed media paintings, sometimes these pieces featured solo figures occupying space. Other times a figure was shown repeated or reflected, juxtaposed against itself or interacting with itself. Some of my work included a person’s face repeated in a linear series, morphing into different expressions or angles like phases of the moon. For me this work was about examining the human experience—movement, transience, and relationship with oneself. While I worked with many different models in creating this work, I strove to capture the universal rather than the personal in my depiction of my subjects.
